The Foundation exceeded its fundraising goals for 2016:
We raised $32,416.44 from 146 individual donors
David Ma '98 offered a $5,000 matching donation in December, and donors responded with $6,846.07 in donations
BoostMySchool, the fundraising platform developed by Holman Gao '08, processed a majority of the donations in 2016
The grants paid by the Magnet Foundation over the past year include:
$430 for MagPi bowling
$1,000 for the TASS trip to Fermilab
$650 for video recording equipment
$2,500 for the ACSL All-Star team
$2,000 for the Montgomery County ARML team
$1,200 to buy a band saw for the R&E lab
$630 for the Science Olympiad team
$550 to attend a Materials Science conference
$270 to attend Chemistry conference
$2,500 for acid storage cabinets
$1,000 for the Quiz Bowl team
$440 for Computer Science Day
$350 for BioEyes zebrafish
$140 for the CyberSecurity team
$780 to support a maker space in the library
New initiatives for 2017:
The Foundation is sponsoring a Silver Quest Memorial Writing Competition for students
The Foundation will be working with the new Art of Problem Solving Academy opening this fall in Montgomery County to increase diversity in the Magnet pipeline.
