The Magnet Foundation gave two awards for the first time this spring:
Lorrie Faith Cranor '89 was selected for the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award. She received the award at the Magnet Research Conference on February 27, 2014.
Daniela Ganelin '14 was selected for the 2014 Blair Leaders in Science Scholarship. Funded by anonymous donors, this scholarship will help Daniela attend MIT in the fall.
The Foundation also approved several grants:
$500 to support a commissioned composition for the Blair orchestra, which was performed at the AFI Silver Theater on Thursday, May 1st (Gazette)
$500 to buy textbooks for Mr. Rose's Discrete Math class
$125 to create Android and iOS Developer Accounts for the Smartphone Programming Club
$2,000 to register Montgomery County's American Regions Math League (ARML) Teams
$500 to support Blair's 2014 After-Prom
$200 to buy lunch for the Magnet student volunteers who called 8th grade girls who were accepted to the Blair Magnet
$3500 to help students and chaperones to attend the XSEDE Conference in Atlanta this summer
