Blair Magnet News: Winter 2015
Blair students again did well in the Intel Science Talent Search. No school in the country has had more semifinalists (183) and finalists (32) since Intel began sponsoring the competition in 1999.
Seniors Matthew Das Sarma, Michael Fan, Francis Gerard, William Lu, Bennet McGlade, Eric Neyman, Sachin Pandey, Ishaan Parikh, Harini Salgado, Arjuna Subramanian, Michael Winer, and Dennis Zhao were named Semifinalists in the 2015 Intel Science Talent Search. (Gazette)

Stephanie Rager and Sean Nair presented their Senior Research Projects at the DC Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Stephanie won 2nd place and a $1500 scholarship, and Sean won 3rd place and a $1000 scholarship. They will both have an opportunity to present their projects at the JSHS National Symposium at the end of April.
Two Blair teams competed at the Princeton University Math Competition (PuMaC), finishing in 4th place in Division A and in 8th place in Division B.
Adam Busis '15 won third place in the 2014 University of Maryland Mathematics Competition. 17 other Blair Magnet students won Honorable Mention.
Ishaan Parikh '15 presented a poster at the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine's Workshop on Cancer: Challenges on Unmet Needs in Austin, TX on November 6-9th, where he received a "Special Recognition" award as a distinguished young researcher. His research paper was published in the Journal of Experimental Secondary Science. In December, he traveled to Germany with the Goethe Institut.
Sabrina Martin '16 was selected to play at Carnegie Hall in New York with the 2015 High School Honors Orchestra. (Gazette)
