Magnet Foundation News: Fall 2018

At the fall meeting of the Magnet Foundation's Board of Directors, the following grants were considered for funding:

• • Chemistry Lab Equipment: $1,700

  • Replacement IR Spectrophotometer: up to $12,000

  • History Bowl Team buzzers: $250

  • Passion for Learning at Eastern Middle School: $2,000

As more lab equipment ages without MCPS funds for replacement, the Foundation is in need of more donations. Please make a contribution before the end of the year!

The Board discussed several additional issues at its meeting:

• • Hiring an executive director to help with administrative issues.

  • Final candidates for the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award have been identified.

  • MCPS has changed the selection process for elementary and middle school magnet programs, which has been reported in local and national press outlets:
