Maneesh Agrawala '90, a computer visual technologist and associate professor of electrical engineering and computer sciences at UC Berkeley, was named a MacArthur "genius" Fellow.

Jonathan Gootenberg '09 won a Gold Medal at the 2009 International Biology Olympiad held in Tsukuba, Japan. Team USA won four gold medals, finishing in first place among all countries participating.

April 22, 2009: Magnet alumni Mitchell Katz '06 and Matthew McCutchen '07 from the University of Maryland, and Louis Wasserman '08 of the University of Chicago competed at the 2009 World Finals for the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.

March 15, 2009: The Center Theatre Group and Deaf West Theatre's production of Stephen Schwartz's Pippin, which kicked off the Mark Taper Forum's 2009 season, ended its limited engagement as scheduled March 15 at 6:30 PM.
